Prospective Memory and the Forgotten Lunch

Psychology professor Mark McDaniel from Washington University in St. Louis describes his research on prospective memory. In order to carry out daily tasks like taking medication, attending meetings, and bringing lunch to work, we first need to remember to do those things. How does the human brain function when using this type of memory? Does prospective memory deteriorate with age? How do those with mild Alzheimer's perform prospective memory tasks? And what can a person do to improve his or her prospective memory?
