How do the memories of one group affect the lives and narratives of future generations? What role do art and literature play in helping people cope with tragic legacies? Erin McGlothlin, associate professor of German and Jewish Studies, explores Second Generation Holocaust Literature and discusses the concept of "postmemory." McGlothlin researches works written by both the children of Jewish victims and by those of German perpetrators. Surprisingly, in some cases these groups relate to the memories of their parents in similar ways.
